    I got all excited about the possibility of seeing the shuttle launch and geeked out (or Wired out) about tons of space related things today:

  • 8 Wierd Pieces of Space Junk including the $100,000 tool bag, Gene Roddenberry’s (creator of Star Trek) ashes and oddly enough, a spatula.

  • Space Station Webcam Goes Live
  • Kepler Telescope Launch Successful
  • Martian Volcano Could Be Reservoir for Life (how weird does that sound?)
  • NASA’s Carbon Satellite Fails

    • Holiday Highlights

    Notable:

  • An entire shoebox full of grandma’s jewelry—just beautiful!
  • Chateau Malakoff Jeanmaire and cake in celebration of my mother’s 62nd birthday
  • Re-watching Wall-E and the many wonderful robot sounds
  • Borrowing Maisie dog to snuggle all night
  • Finding another Tom Corbett book and a bonus Tom Swift and His Rocket Ship
  • Successfully “thoughtful gifts” and the excitement on everyone’s face
  • I finally have a little camera to call my own, courtesy of Mom & Dad
  • Succumbing to Gossip Girl and watching ten episodes
  • Some time to keep stitching with ten letters left to go
  • A new Anthropologie dress and two new blouses
  • An excuse to eat tons of sugar cookies
  • Jonathan spoiled me with a road bike, When We Left Earth and a space themed stocking.

    • Unfortunate:
  • The entire Christmas day in the ER with my horribly sick mother
  • Sharing my parent’s tiny cottage with 2 unexpected family visitors
  • 4 nights on the air mattress
  • Missing out on seeing friends (I will have to make a separate trip from now on)
  • Where was the snow?
  • Too much stress and frustration this year

    • I am loving this year’s holiday season

  • Still riding my bike in the cold only more bundled up
  • Sipping spiced apple cider and hot chocolate
  • Christmas with The Beach Boys at work
  • Our little potted evergreen on the counter top
  • Sitting by the fireplace in the evenings at my parent’s house
  • The sadness of Edward and Annie the cat’s absence this year
  • Christmas cards (sending and receiving—though this year we missed the boat)
  • The possibility of snowfall when I return to Maryland
  • Seeing decorations around town even though it will never snow here
  • The anticipation of seeing family, but missing Jonathan
  • Fun filled nights with friends still in town
